Spring Rally
Some sample fliers are provided by Jeff2 and an update from the last Spring Rally Chat session:
Date for the rally will be set at the next chat session (early or Mid-May)
Rally will begin with a march from the Hunt Plaza to the courthouse, events will be scheduled at a combination of that location and the Natatorium if we are able to reserve that space on the dates that we decide on.
Theme of inclusion/solidarity/unity – the strength of the 99%
Spring Rally will be separate from Art of the Occupiers. We would like to hold a separate rally at the open of that event in June. (Bill suggested a new Town Hall event)
Bill stressed the importance of getting the word out and promote the event to as many people as possible. Everyone is the Chairman of Marketing for Occupy.
Jeff2 said we should try to combine the Rally in some way with the Occupy Peace rally that’s been tentatively scheduled for April 28 or May 1
Michiana Justice and Peace Coalition – Tax Day/Memorial Day
Lois: Michiana Peace and Justice will be at the four corners of the Federal Courthouse block at noon on Tuesday, April 17, with a sandwichboard sign and leaflets with information on how our tax dollars are being spent. Occupy volunteers are welcome and encouraged to participate.
Lois also extended an invitation for OSB to join MJPC on the morning of May 28 in the South Bend Memorial Day parade.
IUSB Libraries Deed of Gift
Tom: The Deed language was updated to include the statement suggested by Lee that IUSB does not have the right to restrict access to materials donated by OSB for preservation.
The new language is approved by consensus and the Deed signed by GA attendees
Next General Assembly Location
The next General Assembly will begin at Bruno’s Pizza for Meet, Greet & Eat at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, April 11, and then move to Hunt Plaza at 5:45 for the meeting (if the weather is favorable).
Announcements
A film screening of “Ethnic Notions” will be held at the Natatorium at 7 PM (after the GA) as part of the ongoing THEM exhibit.
